"My experience with OC Flooring was an extremely positive one. Sam (owner) was very straight forward, professional, and easy to deal with. His company's pricing was very transparent and he provided me with an itemized invoice. I went back and forth with Sam many times as I tried to get a competitive quote. I appreciated Sam's candor and patience and while he did not always respond to my inquiries the same day he did always get back to me (probably busy with other clients). Many flooring companies I looked at did not do this and I even came across some that seemed disingenuous. One company even tried to market engineered hardwood floor as a made up manufacturer's product and put a higher price on it than the original. I was able to shop around and Sam was always able to consistently match and beat all the other competitors' pricing.
Once I signed the contract with Sam, his workers which included Rahul and a team of two started on my job (~1274 sq ft including downstairs, upstairs hallway, 5.25 painted baseboards, and 18 stair steps). It took them two days to demo my home which consisted of ripping out carpet and kitchen tile that was installed by the original home builder. There were a few delays with the stair nosing due to the material manufacturer (Johnson Hardwood) delaying the cutting of the pieces. This was frustrating but out of the control of OC Flooring. Sam kept me updated on the status of this throughout the project. Rahul and team were always on time to work and very efficient. They often stayed late to finish the job they started that day.
When it came to the stairs, Rahul was kind enough to ask if I preferred to have one whole piece of wood used on each step. This would use more material but ended up looking cleaner. I told Rahul I preferred using one wood piece per step and Rahul and team kindly obliged. When I ran out of material due to using one whole piece of wood for the stairs, Sam was kind enough to make a trip up to LA to pick up an additional two boxes. One to finish the steps which he covered and an additional box as spares for me (I paid for this). Rahul and team worked very hard with few breaks and addressed all things I brought to their attention. I was very happy with their craftsmanship and overall job.
